The Surrounding area
Peacehaven is minutes from the Jurassic Coast, 153 miles of unspoint coastline which was designated a world heritage site in 1975. The area is known for its dramatic coast line and cliffs, offering access to unrivalled walks, beaches and of course fossil hunting.
The highest point along the Jurassic Coast, the Golden Cap, is just a few miles energetic walk from Lyme Regis though it may be better to park up at the beach at Charmouth nearby. From the top of Golden Cap you can see the Jurassic Coast in all its glory.
Lyme Regis itself is famous for its "Cobb", the harbour wall which dates back to the fourteenth century and featured in John Fowles' The French Lieutenant's Woman and Jane Austen's Persuasion.
West Dorset is immensely proud of its local produce; this is reflected in some truly fabulous restaurants such as Wild Garlic in Beaminster and The Riverside in Bridport.
Nearby Axminster is also home to Hugh Fearnly Whittingstall's Local Produce Store and Canteen. River Cottage, of course, is just down the road.
Locally there are events catering for many different areas of interest from local food culture to country and Art Fairs.
